IronNet Taps Forcepoint, Symantec Vet as Channel Head
Garrett Jones will be responsible for channel and technology partnerships
IronNet Cybersecurity is bringing on an industry veteran with experience at such companies as Forcepoint, NSS Labs, and Symantec to lead the development of its channel and technology partner programs.
The Lowdown: Jones was announced this week as vice president of global channels at the 5-year-old company based in Fulton, Maryland.
The Details: Jones has spent almost 15 years doing sales and channel work, including in the cybersecurity field. Before coming to IronNet, he spent two years as vice president of global inside sales and renewals at cybersecurity vendor Forcepoint focusing on midmarket and SMBs, which rely heavily on the channel. Prior to that, he was the senior vice president for sales at NSS Labs, a company that tests cybersecurity products, and had spent eight years at Symantec, where he oversaw the development of the company’s global channel strategy. He also spent almost eight years with Dell.
Jones comes to a company that has been expanding the reach of its IronDome platform, which is designed to enable organizations to share cyberthreat intelligence and collaborate in addressing security challenges. The company in August extended the reach of the platform – which had been available to Fortune 500 companies – into the SMB space. The company partners with a number of high-profile tech vendors, including Dell EMC and Amazon Web Services (AWS). It also partners with global systems integrator Accenture.
Background: Jones is the latest hire for IronNet this year as it fills out its executive ranks. In February, the company – which has raised $110 million in two rounds of funding – named Bill Welch, who had been COO and president of Duo Security, as co-CEO, and has since added a chief revenue officer, chief marketing officer, and chief legal officer.
The Buzz: “Our rapid growth has resulted in the need to pursue partners who will play a key role in the delivery of IronNet solutions and services,” Welch said. “Garrett is joining IronNet during an exciting time as we see and understand the potential that these services partners provide their customers with today. We are encouraged that with Garrett, an industry veteran, we will be able to accelerate our partnership strategy.”
“Garrett’s experience in the cybersecurity space, and in running large sales and partner organizations across the globe, makes him the right person to lead this key function for our organization,” IronNet Chief Revenue Officer Sean Foster said. “I am eager to see and be a part of the innovative ideas he brings to the table to help feed the growth we are starting to see within IronNet and the collective defense approach to cybersecurity.”
