Open-Source SD-WAN Company Launches Partner Program
Courts MSPs, SIs, and VARs before software goes GA in November
FlexiWAN is turning to partners to help sell its open-source software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) offering when it becomes generally available next month.
The Lowdown: The company, whose open-source SD-WAN software went into beta in July, is launching a partner program aimed at MSPs, systems integrators, and VARs.
The Details: The combination of the beta version of flexiWAN’s software and the new partner program will accelerate customer engagements and proof-of-concepts and address demand coming from both prospective customers and channel players, according to the company.
Since the first beta was released almost three months ago, flexiWAN counted more than 460 companies registering for it and more than 150 initiated installations. The features in the partner program include discount pricing, leads from flexiWAN, marketing and training help, and direct access to flexiWAN’s technical team.
The Impact: SD-WAN represents the fastest-growing segment in the larger network virtualization space. IDC analysts predict the market will grow 30.8% a year, reaching $5.25 billion in 2023. FlexiWAN’s offering gives channel partners an open-source alternative to sell to their customers, which also have a broad range of commercial vendor options from such companies as Cisco Systems and NSX.
Background: Israel-based flexiWAN announced the partner program at the SDN NFV World Congress 2019 show this month at The Hague, Netherlands. At the same show, flexiWAN sponsored a demonstration with Intel and Enea of a reference design for open-source-based SD-WAN.
The Buzz: “Over the last several months, hundreds of MSPs, SIs, and VARs have contacted flexiWAN asking to become partners and leverage the power of the modular and open architecture of our solution for their customers,” said Amir Zmora, CEO and co-founder of flexiWAN. “After onboarding a few select partners, we’re now opening this opportunity globally, allowing partners to benefit from flexiWAN’s support and services for open source.”
“SDNbucks is a managed service provider that operates globally. As an MSP partner of flexiWAN, SDNbucks leverages its ‘Hardware-as-a-Service’ platform to provide flexiWAN based SD-WAN services,” said Niek van der Ven, co-founder of SDNBucks. “Utilizing the modularity and open architecture of flexiWAN, SDNBucks can offer its customers SD-WAN services that are more tailored to their needs and more cost-effective in both hardware and software perspectives.”
