Deal to expand consulting firm’s reach in Europe
Major Microsoft consulting firm Avanade is growing its presence in Europe with the acquisition of Alnamic AG, a German company with expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dynamics AX enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.
The Lowdown: Avanade officials see the Alnamic acquisition as a key step in strengthening the services the company can offer German businesses around such growing trends as the cloud and artificial intelligence (AI), and also as a way to expand its presence in the region, particularly in the areas of manufacturing and wholesale.
The Details: Alnamic brings with it deep experience in Microsoft solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT), manufacturing, wholesale, and distribution sectors. The company – based in Neuss, Germany, with offices in Ulm and Balingen – has more than 100 specialists in such areas as consulting, development, and customer service.
The German firm’s employees will join Avanade and its workforce of 36,000 employees spread over 80 locations in 25 countries. Avanade is majority-owned by IT services and consultancy giant Accenture and is the foundation of Accenture’s Microsoft Business Group.
No financial details of the deal were released.
Background: Avanade was founded in 2000 through a partnership between Microsoft and Accenture. Alnamic was created two decades ago by the merger of German organizations Avantgarde Business Solutions and Oboe Software and has completed more than 200 projects during that time for midsize companies with up to 2,000 employees.
The Buzz: “Alnamic has a strong reputation as a premier client partner and a track record of success, especially in IoT and customized Dynamics 365-based technology solutions for the manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale sectors,” said Robert Goegele, Avanade general manager for the Austria, Switzerland, and Germany region. “Together, Avanade and Alnamic will provide a solid footprint in Germany.”
“Our integration with Avanade will allow us to offer our clients a complete, proven portfolio of business transformation solutions and to benefit from Avanade’s close relationship with Microsoft and its innovation teams,” said Alnamic CEO Thomas Muller. “As business solutions increasingly leverage cloud and artificial intelligence technology and require advanced security expertise, it was vital for us to find a partner with a global, market-leading capability in all areas. In Avanade, we have found a partner who values its relationships with clients and the focus on our people as much as we do.”
