Voyant Buys Acrobits to Boost UCaaS Platform
Deal adds more mobile communications capabilities to the service provider’s portfolio
Communications services provider Voyant is building on its as-a-service offerings with the acquisition of Acrobits, which makes mobile communications applications for enterprises, service providers, and software developers.
The Lowdown: Acrobits, based in Prague, Czech Republic, offers a lineup of mobile communications softphones for everything from smartphones and WebRTC clients for browsers to software development kits (SDKs) for developers. The company has tens of millions of softphone endpoints in the United States, the European Union, and other regions.
The Details: Voyant officials are looking to the Acrobit technologies to advance their company’s Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) and Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) offerings by delivering a tightly integrated mobile experience for Voyant UCaaS users. Voyant also will incorporate Acrobits’ programmable mobile client into its CPaaS solutions. Acrobits’ mobile client includes built-in support for such platforms as Cisco’s BroadSoft, NetSapiens, and the open-source FreeSWITCH.
No financial details for the deal were released. The acquisition closed Aug. 30 and was announced Tuesday.
The Impact: Voyant claims the largest tier 1 voice network in the United States and a wide array of API-enabled business communications services, ranging from unified communications and messaging to fax, SD-WAN data, and SIP trunking services, that run atop a carrier network reaching almost 90% of the U.S. population. Service providers will now have more mobile communications offerings that they can bring to their end customers.
Background: The global UCaaS market is expected to grow quickly over the next five years. According to a report from Transparency Market Research, the space will grow 29.4% a year between 2016 and 2024, Valued at $8.23 billion in 2015, the global UCaaS market is projected to reach $79.3 billion in 2024.
