Identity and access management vendor Ping Identity today rolled out a series of enhancements to its PingOne for Customers offering to help app developers bake in advanced access controls.
The Lowdown: The updated, cloud-centric PingOne for Customers IDaaS solution can now deliver push notifications from custom mobile applications that can be used by dev teams to embed features such as passwordless log-ins and advanced multi-factor authentication (MFA).
The Details: Specifically, the updated PingOne for Customers adds:
>A mobile SDK that allows development teams to send push notifications to custom mobile applications for MFA. Push notifications are an improvement over other authentication factors such as SMS or e-mail one-time passwords. PingOne’s push notifications can also be used to achieve strong passwordless authentication, allowing users to skip password entry entirely.
>Authentication APIs for social login and registration with Facebook. Application teams can add one-click registration and log-in to user interfaces and can embed social log-in buttons or links in hidden dropdowns.
>Compatibility with inbound SAML assertions and just-in-time provisioning, which allows organizations to route customer log-ins through single sign-on (SSO) for federated access across their application portfolio.
>A dedicated data center in the EU to ensure compliance with data sovereignty rules and regulations such as GDPR.
The enhancements to PingOne for Customers will be generally available next month.
The Buzz: “When PingOne for Customers launched, it took a huge step forward in allowing development teams within large enterprises to quickly and securely get identity into their applications,” said Steve Shoaff, chief product officer at Ping Identity. “This latest release builds on that ease of use. It drastically expands the use cases PingOne for Customers can support and enhances critical features that allow development teams to build secure experiences to really wow their consumers.”
