The Lowdown: The Ingram Micro IoT marketplace is a repository of information and guidance that gives solution providers prescriptive guidance on building end-to-end solutions, kits for developing and integrating IoT and legacy systems, and — soon — access to a catalog of essential components. Additionally, the marketplace provides solution providers with guidance and connections with some of the leading IoT vendors, including Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, Microsoft, Cisco, Panduit, Roambee, Modius, and Freewave.
Ingram Micro is investing heavily in developing relationships and resources to enable vendors and solution providers to address the burgeoning IoT opportunity. According to IDC, businesses will spend $745 billion on IoT products and services in 2019. As much as one-third of IoT spending is earmarked for professional services that integrate new autonomous technologies with legacy systems.
The Details: Ingram Micro Cloud – the cloud computing division of Ingram Micro – also announced a series of updates and additions to its marketplace and support resources:
> Ingram Micro Connect, a marketing platform that facilitates push marketing of vendor cloud services and resources to more than 200,000 solution providers.
> Sales & Marketing Hub, a platform through which solution providers can access cloud content, gain insights into technologies and trends, and build marketing campaigns to drive demand among end customers.

The Impact: Ingram made the announcements at its annual Ingram Cloud Summit, which celebrated its 10th year. While Ingram reports making tremendous progress in enabling and maturing solution providers to capitalize on cloud computing and other emerging market opportunities, the partner community continues to lag in capabilities for advanced cloud solutions, managed cloud services, and cloud sales and marketing.
Background: According to the 2018 U.S. State of the Cloud Channel, a report produced by The 2112 Group and Ingram Micro, most solution providers are not properly planning sales, marketing, and technical capacity for the cloud market. Ingram believes the new marketplace resources will have a significant impact by helping solution providers transform and mature their cloud practices.
