One of the fastest growing segments in Internet of Things technology is industrial and manufacturing. PTC, maker of engineering design and IoT software, is launching a new program to help industrial users build and deploy IoT systems with faster time to value.
The Lowdown: The Customer Success Program is a professional services program that provides industrial IoT customers with pre- and post-sale guidance on needs and use cases, system development, technology selection, deployment, and optimization. The intent is to help customers set industrial IoT goals and reach objectives with greater speed and efficacy.
The Details: PTC is unclear in how it will provide the industrial IoT services. The vendor says “world-class team of experts and professionals” will provide the service. PTC works with and supports channel partners that offer professional services. It’s likely PTC will either tap partners to provide Customer Success Services or offer the program to partners as an enablement resource.
Background: According to IDC, Internet of Things spending will top $745 billion.
Most of the spending will go toward manufacturing and industrial systems. IDC projects that $119 billion will go to discrete manufacturing, $78 billion go to process manufacturing, $61 billion from utilities and smart-grid investments.
The Buzz: “When adopting new technology categories such as IIoT and augmented reality, getting started can be the hardest part. With this in mind, PTC has invested in a customer success strategy that is designed to help companies successfully adopt and achieve value in a scalable way, based on their goals and objectives,” said Matt Cohen, executive vice president of field operations at PTC.
